Tara McPherson

Tara McPherson is an american artist.
She creates art about people and their feelings.
Her characters always refer to an idealized innocence with a strange stare in their eyes, also they give us a great memory about childhood experiences and fantasies. Those images turn out to be provoking and atractive. People and relationships are a habitual themes of her work.

She exhibits her paintings and serigraphs in art galleries all over around the world, gaining fame in the underground circuit.
She has created a lot of posters for rock bands such as Beck, Modest Mouse and Melvin.
Her work also includes the creation of toys with companies like Kidrobot, Dark Horse and Toy2R; the illustration of comics and covers for DC Vertigo; advertising and editorial illustrations for companies such as Wyden+Kennedy and Spin Magazine; and teaching a class at Parsons in NYC.

McPherson´s art has been included in books such as Lost Constellations; The Art of Tara McPherson Vol II, Lonely Heart: The Art of Tara McPherson, Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall, The Art of Modern Rock, Illusive 2, Illustration Now!, SWAG and SWAG 2, etc.

She has lectured at Semi-Permanent, Offset, Institute of Comtemporary Art of London, OFFF, School of Visual Arts, AIGA NYC, AIGA Austin, Columbus College of Art and Design, Parsons, The University of Arizona, MADE in Edmonton and Foleys London. Her art has also been featured in the Oscar Award winning film Juno.

Tara was born in San Francisco, California in 1976 and raised in Los Angeles. She received her BFA from Art Center in Pasadena in August 2001 with honors in Illustration and a minor in Fine Art. She interned at RoughDraft Studios, working on Matt Groening´s "Futurama" during College.

the most important latinamerican music fest

As well it´s known for the rock latinoamerican comunity , last April 8th ,2011 began,the twelfth Latinamerican Fest or best known as "Vive Latino",This is the most important Rock and latin alternative musical festival , wich always promises full our heards and minds of nice music. A brief introduction , the "Vive" it´s celebrated in Mexico City on a place called Foro Sol since 1988, and only has been canceled a twice times (1999 and 2002) for some organization problems.However this fest go on , because has a lot of fans whose years after teast attending at "the Rock Calling". the estructure of the festival including 3 stages and wich one has seen the performances of a lot of great bands like Los Abandoned, The Mars Volta , Save Ferris, Deftones, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs,Los Pericos,Bersuit Vergarabat,,Cafe Tacuva,La Maldita Vecindad, The Wailers, The Skatalites,Los Autenticos Decadentes,Gondwana, Gustavo Cerati, ZOE, And Others,Anyway if I mention every band I´ll never finish, ,the point it´s that "The Vive", it´s a real test for any real band and for anybody "Rocker boy" or Rocker girl". Well it´s time to write about the Vive Latino 2011 , So first I wanna give a loud applause for the organization ,whose invited great bands, special mention to the Caifanes .The meeting of this mexican rock band was one of the most commented news of the fest. Specially because the band broke up in 1995 when guitarist Alejandro Marcovich left the band and the remaining members continued (for legal reason) under the name Jaguares. But for many fans the true identity of Caifanes sound was the combination of Marcovich and Saul Hernandez. As a previous of Caifanes ,in the main stage we enjoyed the performances of bands like Enjambre,San Pascualito Rey ,La Gusana Ciega ,Los Pericos,Jarabe de Palo,Los Bunkers and Los Enanitos Verdes, So what I would like to bring out it´s the playing of bands like Jarabe de Palo whose played with a nice attitude and mades dancing a big part of the audience , Los Enanitos Verdes whose made us remember good old times and Enjambre who have shown a really interestingpropuse, good for each one. In contrast I´m really disapointed of the performance of La Gusana and Pericos , of my point of view, each one of this bands has a lot to offer, but in this time someting was wrong I think that colud be the called "Feeling". After this bands , the performance of Caifanes was Legendary and no ones could forget what that night happened , the magic and mystery of Caifanes floted in all the area and I want to finish with some words of Saul Hernandez.... An amazing RoLLeR CoAsTeR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to share an unique experience with all of you.
When I was 15 I went to New Jersey, and my uncle take us (my sister and me) to Six Flags Great Adventure. It is an amazing place, is the biggest amousement park I've ever been!!
All the rides that are there are amazing, But there is one special that we ride , the "Kingda Ka"

The kingda ka is nowadays the second fastest roaller coaster in the earth, just behind the "Formula Rossa" in Abu Dhabi, inaugurated in 2010, but is the tallest roaller coaster of the earth!
This remarkable thrill ride breaks all world records, zooming from 0 to 128 mph (0 to 206 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and catapulting 45 stories into the sky. It was introduced in May 20 2005.

• Get propelled horizontally at 128 mph via hydraulic launch



• Hang on tight as you shoot 90 degrees into a quarter turn

CONASUPO CASE Mexico-Chernobyl disaster

I chose this topic for 3 reasons: because the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster was the last week, nowadays many scientists say that we are living similar situation in the long-term effects in the food industry by the disaster of Fukushima nuclear power plant and because as many of you know I have a aspecial interest in these topics.

The disaster had consequences in many european countries but also Americans countries like Mexico were involved. One example was the CONASUPO case.

How many of you have you heard about CONASUPO case? Well, if not could be because many of you hadn´t born yet, or some of you were very young.

The CONASUPO case was about the radioactive milk that Mexico bought to Ireland in 1987. According to the investigations the Mexican government didn´t know that the milk was radioactive, so they distributed many tons during 1987-1988.

The problem was discovered when 3 soldiers were poisoned to drink the milk and then Laguna Verde confirmed that the milk was contaminated with high levels.

The company said they would return the milk to Ireland but many specialist affirm that only 1,497 tons were returned. The place where the rest of the milk powder was hidden is unknown, but when the case was reopened some said the place was a little town in Veracruz.

Many people were affected, especially children and pregnant women, but unfornunately the damage was done.Fortunately, with this new nuclear disaster, the authorities are taking several precautions but we should take care with the products that are import illegally.

I´m disagree with the term "similar situation" because as I said now the authorities are taking precautions and Japan suspended thge exportation of vegetables and dairy products and because nowadays the nuclear energy represent a new alternative. The biggest advantage of nuclear energy is that there is no release of greenhouse gases during the nuclear reaction.

Many people think that nuclear energy is dangerous and actually, since Chernobyl disaster, may people began protest against the use of nuclear power plants, but what do you think?

My fifteen present.

Four years ago my parents gave an amazing present as a fifteen present, it was: a trip to Canada.

It was very exciting for me because i was only fifteen years and i traveled alone, well just with other teenager's girls. I was ten days in this amazing country. We visit the principal touristic places, for example: Montreal, Ottawa, Qauebec, Niagara Falls and Toronto.

• Montreal: It was the city where we arrived, the people at the airport was very friendly and helps us to learn some Canadian words, it was very funny. Is the largest city in the province of Quebec and teh second-largest city in Canada. The palce taht I loved here was The Biodome, it's like a zoo, where you can see different kind of animals in them ecosystems, like jungle and North Pole, it was interesting because the weather and the decoration change in every ecosystem and that make this visit an unforgettable experience.


• Quebec: It is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking population, and he only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level. It was difficult to understand the people here. quebec is Canada's largest province by area. The most amazing place for me in Quebec was: The BAsilique Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre and Oratoire Saint-Joseph.

• Ottawa and Toronto: Ottawa, the capital of the country and Toronto, the most important economic city in Canada that places weren't very interesting for me, because there were a lot of buildings like in Mexico City. The place that i would like to visit again was the underground city, where we visited around 100 stores.


• Niagara Falls: Are voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara River, stradding the international border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S state of New York. The Falls are 27 km. Here we had a dinner in Planet Hollywood next to the Falls. At nigt we could see the light show, it was the most amazing experience during my trip. we also visited the amusement park, where we found many international stores, museums and video games.

The most amazing places for me was: Quebec and Niagara Falls. Quebec because it looks like and old village, the houses are small, but amazing, you can ride a horse, and the foof here is delicious. The best experience was when we board a ship where we cross the falls.

Well that's my amazing experience in Canada.

The “Torta de la barda” was created for the first time in Tampico, Tamaulipas; its creator was Mr. Jose Maria Bracamontes.

He had the fabulous idea to sell tortas next to a wall by the train rails and the wharf of the city. You can find it near to market zone.

Soon in spite of the success obtained by this tortas, were spread trough the whole city and the suburbs.

Nowadays this tortas are known in everywhere like tortas de la barda. The importance of this tortas in Tampico’s Society is the identity acquired compared to other tortas styles from different places in Mexican Republic, such as Tortas Ahogadas from Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Currently and since several decades ago, this kind of tortas became the preferred ones in the region as they turned into a symbol from the culinary point of view.

Now, big supermarkets, not only national but also international, include this product in its bakery line or prepared food.
